LaMar's Donuts is probably the most recognized local donut chain here in KC, and they do have nice selection of donuts and good coffee past 10 AM. Do I think their donuts are the best? No, but they're not bad. Although they have good appearance and they have a nice size to them, they don't have the same crisp outside bite and inside softness that I get with some of the local mom and pop donut places in Johnson County. If I were looking for donuts and coffee at 10 AM and I only had credit cards, I would go here. If I'm up early, have cash, and looking for a great donut, I know of a few better options before I come here.

Tasted like cheap ingredients. Filling was heavy greasy sugary. These doughnuts are huge and look amazing but sadly don't have the flavor to match

I had the pleasure, and honor, of having these donuts on several occasions while in Kansas for work. I have raved often about these donts on several occasions since returning home to CT. My only complaint is that I can't get them here at home!

Okay, so we came for the free wifi. But these are some damn fine donuts. Cinnamon sugar cake donuts were moist and sweet, certainly beating out Dunkin Donuts and the like. We didn't get a chance to sample other KC places like Fluffy Fresh that people adore, but since the founder of LaMar's taught Jay Leno how to make donuts on the Tonight Show, I guess he has some authority on the subject. I was perfectly happy with the food, the service (two efficient young guys), and oh yeah, the wifi ;)

Great, fresh made doughnuts. If ever you have a special occasion, or maybe for no reason an assorted box of Lamar's will help make the start of your day a great one.

I'm with Wade.If people are making orders of 2 dozen or more, can they phone it in?I've stood there for 20 minutes and then by the time they get to me,everything is GONE.And sooner or later,so will their customers be.Work a little harder on the availability.

Not all donuts are the same and LaMar's definitely has a way of standing out among the crowd. I was introduced over 20 years ago when a man in my office would so kindly bring LaMar's in every week or so. I love maple, so the maple long john was my favorite . Especially loved how thick the icing was on top, oh, and the size...yea, really it's about twice the size of most donut shops. They have an outstanding apple fritter too AND the "cinnamon roll" isn't bad for a donut.

The doughnuts here are fine. They won't kill you, and they won't wow you either. I just don't understand how people stay so stuck to a doughnut that just doesn't inspire anything but a round gut. If you're going to eat doughnuts, they should be a cut above the rest. And when you compare them to fluffy Fresh or Space Age doughnuts, Lamar's is just another regular doughnut place. Nothing special.

The first couple times I had Lamar's, I wasn't overly impressed (different location than this). But they've really grown on me. I'm a fan of just straight up glazed donuts and I'm pretty picky. I often don't like them but the ones at Lamars are pretty good. Not perfect, but good. They also have donut holes which just make me happy inside. They have a wide variety options (including a lot of specialty flavors for the seasons like pumpkin spice and peppermint chocolate). The cinnamon twists are massive and excellent. They have huge cinnamon rolls but I've yet tried on. They are just too big to get as a snack. The apple fritters are good too. They also have a rewards/loyalty card that you can earn free donuts and coffee which is a bonus. The service is always really fast even when busy and the staff friendly.

The best donuts in Kansas City! The wait can sometimes be long, but it's worth it.

I've been traveling to the KC area literally for years and had never been to LaMar's. Heard about it when Krispy Kreme came to town and the locals swooned over the next big thing. But they went back to their hometown favorite and I now know why. So when I finally made may way in there I realized what I had been missing out on. Not sure if other LaMar's are like this, but this one (set in one of the thousands of strip malls in SoJoCo) feels like an actual bakery. It's got the right smell and look. The people were Midwest friendly. And the donuts rock! Glazed, chocolate, pumpkin, apple spice, chocolate glazed. I will be back. I need to make up for lost time.

The donuts are terrific here. No question. The best in the metro area. The problem is this location tends to favor the office park crowd who at their turn in line order 1-2-3- even four dozen donuts at a time. at their own pace, taking their time while the rest of us simply coming in to grab a cup of coffee and a doughnut, have to wait and wait and wait for Java the hut to make up his mind on just how many maple bars he wants, and I mean this can take 5 minutes. Can they set up these 3 dozen orders ahead?. Or why not have one of the clueless counter people, ask is there anyone who is here for a small order? They don't seem to get it, I will never go back to this location. Besides the coffee is typically weak.

LaMar's Rocks! They have the BEST donuts in town! Great Selection. The people here are AMAZING! So Nice especially the short dark curlyhaired girl. HOWEVER- they don't make enough donuts. Especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Twice now I've gone in to get donuts for staff meeting @ 8:00 and there is nothing left. Saturdays at 9;00 are even worse. Come on guys make donuts so you enough all morning! They probably aren't useing a good inventory systme which is sad cause I haven't bother going back since the last time they were out of everything.....perhaps I will give them a shot this weekend. Staff=***** Quality of Food=**** Selection=**

Wow! I'm disappointed that this place isn't feeling the love with more reviews. I know peoples preferences for donuts can be fierce, but this place has different styles, and are very unique. I was in town for biz, and decided to try a couple of the highly rated local donut shops. I'm not a donut connoisseur, but LaMar's blows the other local shop away (which I won't name, but has a higher rating with more reviews. The rays original style (which even by 7:45am, were sold out except for ONE (only negative, but promising that they were good), which I grabbed) were large, light and airy. The cake donut, original glazed, were dense with great flavor and awesome- the only adjective I can came up with- glaze, if not just a little too sweet. I literally out- loud said 'wow' with every bite. I usually like to try different places when I travel to places I go regularly, IE. for work, to get some cuisine diversity to discover hidden gems, but LaMar's will definitely be a staple I can't miss whenever I make it back to the area.

Came here after my friend and I saw that John's Space Age Donuts ( yelp.com/biz/johns-space… ) was closed for the day, as the owners were on vacation for the week. Walked in and were treated to an extensive variety of different donuts. Decided on the maple glazed and apple spice, both of which were sweet and delicious. If I could enjoy a sweet donut daily without it being detrimental to my waistline, I'd visit Lamar's every time I could. However, until that day comes, this delicious option will only be a treat I'll enjoy sparingly.
